GENERAL INFORMATION

What is Arise Physical Therapy?

Arise Physical Therapy is a non-profit organization specializing in geriatric wellness. We are dedicated to helping older adults maximize their quality of life by prioritizing independence, mobility, and safety through a personalized, one-on-one clinical approach.

Where is your clinic located?

We are conveniently located within St. Monica’s Senior Living at: 3920 N Green Bay Road, Racine, WI 53404.

Who will be my therapist?

You will work directly with Kelly Bardosy, DPT. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Geriatric Specialist with over 20 years of experience, Kelly understands the unique physiological needs of aging adults. She holds a BS in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota (2002) and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Marquette University (2005).

SPECIALIZED CARE & RECOVERY

What geriatric services do you specialize in?

Our practice is built around the pillars of Healthy Aging. Our core specialties include:

  • Fall Prevention & Balance Training: Proactive screenings and action plans to reduce fall risks and increase confidence.
  • Mobility & Independence: Custom programs designed to help you move safely and maintain your lifestyle at home.
  • Neurological Rehabilitation: Specialized support for conditions such as Stroke or Multiple Sclerosis.
  • Surgical Recovery: Expert rehabilitation to help you regain strength and function after a procedure.

Do you offer specific support for joint replacement recovery?

Yes. We have dedicated protocols for post-surgical rehabilitation, specifically focusing on:

  • Hip Replacement Recovery: Restoring gait, stability, and weight-bearing confidence.
  • Knee Replacement Recovery: Improving range of motion, strength, and joint flexibility.
  • Shoulder Surgery Rehabilitation: Enhancing reach and functional daily movement for tasks like dressing or reaching a cupboard.

When is the right time to start physical therapy?

You don’t need to wait for a fall or an injury to see us. The "right time" is whenever you notice a change in your balance, a decrease in your activity level, or if you are planning an upcoming surgery. Proactive therapy (often called "pre-hab") can significantly improve your recovery outcomes and help maintain your safety at home.

THE ARISE DIFFERENCE

What makes your treatment approach different for older adults?

We believe in "Empowering Movement, Enhancing Lives" through:

  • One-on-One Focus: You receive undivided attention from Dr. Bardosy during every session—never being handed off to an assistant or multi-tasking with other patients.
  • Holistic Wellness: We address the root cause of mobility issues, considering physical health, emotional well-being, and even how well you sleep at night.
  • A "Normalcy" Focused Philosophy: We help you understand which changes are a natural part of aging and which ones we can improve through targeted movement.

What is the goal of your Fall Prevention program?

Fall prevention is a cornerstone of our practice. Our specialized program has seen a 50% reduction in falls among participants. Our goal is to replace the "fear of falling" with the "confidence to move" by addressing strength, environment, and balance.

INSURANCE & SCHEDULING

What insurance plans do you accept?

As a non-profit committed to the Racine community, we accept ALL insurance plans, including Medicare and supplemental providers, to ensure that every senior has access to the specialized care they deserve.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. We are currently accepting new patients from the St. Monica’s community and the greater Racine and Kenosha area. No referral? Give us a call at (262) 321-7164, and we can help you navigate the next steps.

What is the therapy environment like?

Recovery happens best in a calm, focused setting. Our therapy gym is spacious, quiet, and private, offering the latest rehabilitation tools without the overwhelming noise or "busy" feel of a traditional high-volume clinic.

ENGAGEMENT: IS THERAPY RIGHT FOR ME?

When is the right time to start physical therapy?

The "right time" is whenever you notice a change in your daily life—it’s not just for after a fall or surgery. If you find yourself holding onto furniture while walking, avoiding stairs, or feeling "unsteady" on your feet, starting therapy now can prevent an injury later. Early intervention is the key to maintaining long-term independence.

I’m not "injured"—can I still benefit from physical therapy?

Absolutely. Many of our clients come to us for Healthy Aging and wellness. We can help you build the strength and balance needed to keep doing what you love, whether that’s gardening, traveling, or playing with grandchildren. Think of it as a "tune-up" for your mobility.

My doctor hasn't mentioned therapy yet. Can I still reach out?

Yes. You do not need to wait for a doctor's suggestion to take charge of your health. We can discuss your concerns and help you determine if physical therapy is the right next step for your safety and confidence.
